I’m taking part in Million Makers, raising funds for The King's Trust.
The King's Trust believes that every young person should have the chance to succeed, no matter what their background or the challenges they are facing. The King's Trust TK Maxx Youth Index 2025 revealed that half (50%) of young people not in education, employment, or training (NEET) say the longer they are unemployed, the harder it is to find work. Over four in ten (44%) say that being out of work means they have lost confidence in their skills.
The courses offered by The Trust help young people aged 11-30 to develop essential life skills, get ready for work, access job opportunities and create a brighter future for themselves.

How did we end up here..
Saturday 12th Sep
When the communication came out about the Race to Zero Challenge, I had just come back from a lunchtime run, felt slightly competitive, and made a joke in the team chat that this was something I'd be up for, as long as Emma Docksey was in my team.
Emma may as well be a professional athlete. She runs marathons for fun, does Hyrox in her lunch break and generally treats exercise as a perfectly normal hobby.
I had absolute confidence she’d win this for us without me needing to burn a calorie. So much confidence in Emma's ability, I dragged Leanne Barnes into it too, signed us up.. then had major regrets.
The team:
Emma Docksey – The Heavy Lifter
Marathons, Hyrox, the lot. She’s basically our entire training plan, fitness strategy and competitive advantage rolled into one.
No pressure, Emma, but we’re counting on you.
Me – The Basic Contributor
A casual Pilates and 5ker. I’ll be doing my bit, but let’s be honest, I’m mainly here to ride Emma’s coattails to victory.
Leanne Barnes – The Wildcard
Probably never stepped foot in a gym in her life, but walks her dog, and it counts (or walks to the pub - we'll take anything)
Otherwise, she’ll be an excellent cheerleader.
The Challenge
We have six weeks to reduce our starting balance of 5,400 minutes (90 hours) to zero through physical activity and fundraising.
The first team to reach zero wins.
Our strategy? Emma does the heavy lifting, I contribute a respectable amount of Pilates and 5Ks, and Leanne walks the dog.
Honestly, it’s a flawless plan.
Why we’re doing it
We’re taking part to raise money for The King’s Trust, supporting their incredible work helping young people build confidence, overcome challenges and create better futures.
So, if you can spare a donation, we’d be hugely grateful. Every pound helps, and every minute gets us closer to zero.
Please donate, cheer us on and help Emma carry us to victory!
Thank you for your support.
Emma, we’ve got this. Well… you’ve got this. We’ll be behind you.
