I’m taking part in Million Makers, raising funds for The King's Trust.
The King's Trust believes that every young person should have the chance to succeed, no matter what their background or the challenges they are facing. The Prince's Trust NatWest Youth Index 2024 revealed that over a third (39%) of young people no longer feel in control of their future, with over a quarter (26%) feeling as though they are going to fail in life.
The courses offered by The Trust help young people aged 11-30 to develop essential life skills, get ready for work, access job opportunities and create a brighter future for themselves.

Skill Session Takeaways - Running Successful Events
Thursday 17th Jul
Our CPD Skill Sessions continued this week with another fantastic panel discussing how to run a successful event✨
Here are our top ten key takeaways:
🙌 Have an overall vision for your event. What does the end result look like? Keep this vision at the forefront of your planning.
🌈 Establish what your objectives are early on. What is the purpose of the event? Make sure to return to your objectives throughout the planning stage.
👂 Keep an open dialogue going with your team to ensure you are effectively communicating.
🤝 Plan ahead – prepare a detailed project plan with key milestones to help you stay on track. Think about how you will measure the success of the event. Plan event debriefs & surveys to evaluate the experience.
💡Consider how you plan to engage your stakeholders. What will inspire them to support your event?
🌈 Event planning is not just about the execution of your event but also how you build relationships beforehand.
🎨 Get creative! What will make the biggest impact on your audience? Good storytelling helps to build a connection with your supporters, so they feel more emotionally involved.
🎠 If working with a limited budget, be honest! Set your budget, then look at where the opportunities are to get a reduced rate or better still, free!
🚀 Don’t be afraid to ask people to volunteer their services for free; people are often willing to support a charitable cause.
🧸 Remember, events can be stressful – there is always something that goes array. Ensure you have a good team that you can rely on and work through these challenges together.
A huge thank you to James Howitt from Smyle, Jason Rawles from RAW Adventures and Matthew Maginn from The King’s Trust for sharing their advice and expertise, and to our Alumni member, Joanna Taylor from Simply Business, for hosting the session ✨
