Million Makers

Skill Sessions Completed!

As our month of skill sessions comes to a close, here are a few things to keep in mind as you launch your fundraising activities:

🧑‍🤝‍🧑Stay Connected: Keep using our LinkedIn group and newsfeed to share your progress, celebrate your successes (big or small!), and connect with other teams. You never know where inspiration or a helpful connection might come from!

🙋‍♀️ Lean on Your Support Network: Your dedicated King's Trust contact and your mentors are there to guide you. Do not hesitate to reach out with questions or challenges, and ensure they are invited to your weekly team meetings.

💡 Embrace the Learning Curve: There will be highs and lows, successes and setbacks. Embrace the learning process, adapt as needed, and remember that resilience is key.

Remember the 'Why': Always remember the incredible impact your fundraising will have on the lives of young people. This purpose will fuel your motivation and drive you forward.

The next few months will be a whirlwind of activity, creativity, and significant fundraising success. We are incredibly excited to see the amazing things you will accomplish.

Million Makers teams, rally your colleagues, engage your networks, challenge yourselves, and let the fundraising competition begin! The power to make a real difference is now in your hands. Go out there and make it happen 💥

What Makes an Effective Marketing Campaign? 🤔

This week, we heard from Marisa Hordern, founder of Missoma Jewellery, and Michelle Pugh-Parry de Klerk, founder of The Women's Chapter, on our third CPD Skill Session: 'From Idea to Impact: Developing Your Marketing Strategy' 📈

Here are some key take-aways from the session:

✍️Do your consumer research: Understanding your audience is key to maximising your engagement. Reach out to your networks, get their insight, and gain their investment in your initiatives.

🏆Quality over Quantity: Keep your campaigns targeted and effective. Approach audiences you know will engage with your material, for a better return.

📖Tell a Story: Bring your audience on the journey with you! Share the stories of the young people their funds will be supporting, as well as your own professional development journey.

Remember the 3-Second Hook: First impressions are crucial. How do you make an immediate impact to catch peoples' attention and stop them from scrolling?

🌱Simplicity is Key: Some of the most effective campaigns are stripped back, simple, yet effective - those 'ugly ads' go a long way!

🤝Collaborate, collaborate, collaborate: How can you collaborate with others to increase your audience and improve engagement? Reach out to your networks, sponsors, and senior leadership team and emphasise the value of their involvement!

Becoming a Successful Leader 👏

What an inspiring start to our skill session series, with our fantastic panel discussing what makes a successful leader ✨ Here are some key take-aways from the session:

🙌Leadership is not 'one size fits all': Find the best leadership style that suits YOU.

🌈Remember the collective vision: How can you communicate a compelling narrative that your team can relate to, and apply to their own roles?

🤝Bring your team on the journey with you: Monitor progress, celebrate success, and be transparent on challenges - include your team in the solution!

👂Listening is a sign of strength: Work on developing the soft skills, like communication, to understand your team and their strengths.

💡Reframe uncertainty as an opportunity to learn: Remember you won't always have the answers - leadership is about making the best decisions you can with the data you have.

🏋️Adaptation is the key to resilience: When faced with challenges, delegate your tasks, and focus on the priorities.

🛀Take time to unwind: Leading is hard work! Make sure you take the time to re-set, look after yourself, and ask for help when you need it.

Fundraising Kick-Off! ⚽

After weeks of brainstorming, planning, and Dragon's Den triumphs, the moment we have all been waiting for is finally here: it is time to officially kick off your Million Makers fundraising initiatives!

It is time to bring your brilliant business plans to life and raise as much money to support young people across the U.K. Whether you are launching commercial initiatives, organising engaging events, or creating something brand new to Million Makers, your efforts are about to translate into tangible support for those who need it most.

We're taking part in Million Makers, raising funds for The King’s Trust.

The King's Trust believes that every young person should have the chance to succeed, no matter what their background or the challenges they are facing. The Prince's Trust (now The King's Trust) NatWest Youth Index 2024 revealed that over a third (39%) of young people no longer feel in control of their future, with over a quarter (26%) feeling as though they are going to fail in life.

The courses offered by The Trust help young people aged 11-30 to develop essential life skills, get ready for work, access job opportunities and create a brighter future for themselves.
