Getting started
How do I register?
Click here to start the registration process, if you are registering your company in the competition.
Upon completion, you will receive a link, which you can then send to individual employees to join your team. If you are an individual wanting to join your company’s team, please use the link provided by your company mentor to join your Million Makers team! Our platform will take you through all the steps as you go, but if you are having any issues, please reach out to millionmakers@kingstrust.org.uk .
Can my company enter more than one team?
Yes. It works best for multiple companies that have a large employee base and multiple sites. We advise against having multiple teams from the same location, or if it’s your first year taking part.
What if our team is spread out across different locations?
That’s not a problem. With the world becoming more agile and working from home being the new norm, we are expecting our teams to represent many regions. Million Makers can be a great way to bring colleagues together through encouraging cross-team collaboration and multi-site teamwork.
To keep connected and to make this an opportunity accessible to all staff, we recommend using conferencing platforms, like Microsoft Teams or Zoom, and providing the opportunity for the team to meet in person at key points in the challenge.
How much does it cost to take part in Million Makers?
Million Makers is free to join. The King’s Trust will provide your team with the seed funding of up to £1,500, and all the resources needed throughout the challenge. To safeguard our own funds, by agreeing to our terms and conditions when registering, you are agreeing to underwrite this capital investment. All funds raised by the team during the competition are donated back to The King’s Trust to support young people across the UK.
What support does The King’s Trust provide?
- Every team will receive up to £1,500 seed funding
- A dedicated point of contact
- Access to a comprehensive online portal filled with advice and resources exclusive to Million Makers
- Invitations to inspiring and informative events at key stages in the challenge
- A Million Makers mentor
What does the CPD (Continuous Professional Development) accreditation mean for participants?
-
Million Makers is a formally recognised learning and development programme by the CPD accreditation service. Every participant that successfully completes Million Makers will receive a CPD accreditation, that can be added to their CV and used towards formal development journeys. Participants will receive a certificate upon completion of the challenge.
This also means that companies taking part, can shout about providing employees with a CPD accredited opportunity that is also socially responsible and supports your charitable efforts.
Fundraising
What type of fundraising can we do?
Million Makers allows you and your team to get those creative juices flowing, get innovative and have a chance to utilise your entrepreneurial skills! Since Million Makers began, we have seen everything from dazzling gala dinners, clothing lines to abseils from jaw-dropping heights! Your King’s Trust contact can support you and your team to create incredible initiatives to raise funds. Need more inspiration? You can check out some of our case studies here.
Is Million Makers just about fundraising?
No! Throughout your Million Makers journey, you will also gain access to learning and development opportunities through our skill sessions. These sessions focus on key skills you need for fundraising, but also skills that will benefit your career. Led by a panel of experts, you will gain insight into leadership, resilience, marketing, events management and more.
You will also gain access to volunteering opportunities during the challenge, giving you the chance to understand the cause you are supporting and work directly with young people!
Is Million Makers a competition?
First and foremost, Million Makers is a fundraising challenge to raise much needed funds to support young people. However, we love a bit of friendly competition! Check out our leader board to see how your team is doing. We will celebrate the teams who raise the most money and injecting some sector-based competition as well.
What's next?
My Million Makers journey has come to an end – what can I do now?
It doesn’t have to be the end! In 2023, we launched our exclusive Million Makers Alumni Network, to give previous participants the chance to continue their involvement with Million Makers and The King’s Trust.
By joining the network, members will gain access to further development opportunities, networking opportunities, and receive updates from The King’s Trust on the impact of their support. From joining us at some of our King’s Trust events to putting all those skills you have learnt throughout the duration of the competition to good use by mentoring future Million Makers teams – there are so many ways to continue your involvement!
At the end of your time in the Million Makers competition, you will receive comms from the Million Makers team about how to become a member. For more information and to register for the alumni network, see the alumni hub.
