The King's Trust believes that every young person should have the chance to succeed, no matter what their background or the challenges they are facing. The King's Trust TK Maxx Youth Index 2025 revealed that half (50%) of young people not in education, employment, or training (NEET) say the longer they are unemployed, the harder it is to find work. Over four in ten (44%) say that being out of work means they have lost confidence in their skills.

The courses offered by The Trust help young people aged 11-30 to develop essential life skills, get ready for work, access job opportunities and create a brighter future for themselves.

Meet the Strategic Time Managers: Proof That Good Planning Can Sometimes Beat Good Cricket

Friday 21st Aug

As Head of Marketing, I’ve launched campaigns, managed events and survived more stakeholder meetings than I care to count. But on 3 September, I’m taking on my greatest leadership challenge yet: captaining a cricket team despite knowing remarkably little about cricket.

I’m honoured—and slightly concerned—to be leading The Strategic Time Managers in the Cognizant Cricket Fundraiser 2026 at Lord’s Indoor Cricket Nets, supporting The King’s Trust Million Makers Challenge.

Other teams may bring cricketing talent and an understanding of phrases like “silly mid-on”. We’re bringing PowerPoint skills, spreadsheets and enough colour-coded calendars to schedule success well in advance.

Can we bowl? Possibly. Can we bat? We’ll find out. Can we organise a 30-minute meeting to discuss both? Absolutely.

Thankfully, the day is designed to be fun and inclusive, and every player gets a chance to bat—giving me at least one glorious minute to demonstrate my complete lack of technique.

But the real goal is bigger than cricket. We’re raising money for The King’s Trust, helping young people build confidence, develop skills and create brighter futures. Every donation will make a meaningful difference—and give us extra motivation when we take to the crease, wicket, pitch or field. I’m still learning which is which.
