Hiya! 💕😁 I'm cycling 45 miles (72km!!) to change young lives - from Buckingham Palace to Windsor Castle
On Sunday 5 October, I'll be taking part in Palace to Palace cycling 45 miles from Buckingham Palace to Windsor Castle and raising fund for the King’s Trust.
It's been probably over 15 years that I LAST cycled just any distance! 😦😧😨 WILL I MAKE IT? HELP!!!
After the pandemic and cost of living crisis, nearly 1 million young people in the UK are out of work, education, or training — but with the right help, they’re ready to rise.
Please help me to support The King's Trust by sponsoring my Palace to Palace cycle ride and sharing my page. Just a £20 donation -- or less, as much as you can afford! -- could provide a young person with something important to them, a contribution to an inspiring two hours of work experience in a stable job in a thriving sector for example!
Lots of love!!! ❤️💕 Many thanks in advance!!!

2-Aug-2025 Tina's Palace to Palace Blog — Week 2: Richmond Park Stag-Spotting, Hills & Watch Troubles (ง •̀_•́)ง
Saturday 2nd Aug
A gorgeous long ride — over 36.8km of hilly and scenic route from Putney into Richmond Park! See tracked screenshot route!
Apple Watch only officially clocked 34km though. 😭 It decided to “steal” the first 10 minutes and 1.7 miles of my training session! At start of ride, time was ticking… With no route recording for 10min!!! 🤦♀️ Turns out watch started clock but not GPS. GRRR. 😤 Well I’ve now reset the calibration, ChatGPT says it will fix the issue — fingers crossed!!! 🤞
More on this ride: Hubby joined me, yay! 🧡 He swapped my bike saddle (check photo) before we started, great to have handyman around LOL... Then during the ride taught me the art of changing gears — not while powering pedals — and not-during-just-before that uphill grind, and led the way into Richmond Park, as again, even though I have some new gear as you will notice, I still don’t have the bike iPhone holder for my GPS!🙈
Hubby also spotted this majestic male stag in the park (photo)! Look at those antlers! Wonderful, right at the top of the steepest hill. We paused, I could recover, snapped a few, made my day!!!🥳❤️😍
Thank you all 🙏 for your support, I continue so weak, third day training is not much of a difference, and continue to welcome your hints and comments please!
With new saddle, sit-bone endurance became less of an issue😅 but not yet a confident rider, twice today I nearly fell, continue wobbly, especially on those hills! Hilly terrain so much more difficult than flat — And my 72km will have hills, must learn well how to change gears timely, and effectively…
Doing this ride for The King's Trust, as you know. They support young people rebuild their futures. Your sponsoring keeps me going.
Please donate — even the smallest contribution makes a difference. ❤️🙏

Thank YOU: To all my supporters! Also deeply grateful to my kind generous and beautiful friend — will ask for her consent to mention her publicly 😉— who let me borrow her sturdy 18-gear-mountain bike, both for day challenge on 5th Oct, but also to train and get prepared. And there is a lot of training for me, who hadn't been on a bike for over 15 years!
First ride Sunday: 21km along the Thames Path, from hashtag#Putney to hashtag#VauxhallBridge and back. A beautiful scenic riverside route to kick things off. Note to self: Sunday, not the best weekday for cycling that path, loads of pedestrians, who are path-priority 🙂↕️
Second spontaneous (super wrong!) ride yesterday: Now this is where I have to self-control and rein in my enthusiasm! Contact from office, need to be here in person, of course, was WFH... Jumped on the bike, what could possibly go wrong? ... (🫣 so many things) GPS audio stopped working, got lost, verge of tears, a diversion of 10km wrong direction, too many cars, stopped so many times to check the way, lost again, eventually managed and arrived, a 31km super-stressful ride! Learn my lessons, spontaneous doesn't work for an inexperienced bike rider like me... Now am also very sore you know where...
Well in summary, a week at a time, building strength, especially sitbone endurance, yes will take time, but that training will boost my confidence — and with your help and support, I'm enjoying the journey.

🚴♀️Palace to Palace: 45 Miles, hopefully-a-not-too-wobbly cyclist, and a very determined yogie with endurance
Monday 21st JulSo… I’ve signed up to cycle 45 miles (that’s 72km!!! Oh no!!!) from Buckingham Palace to Windsor Castle. Yes, on a bike😮. Yes, on roads😵. And no, I haven’t cycled in over 15 years. What could possibly go wrong?
Let’s rewind.
I’m a yoga-practicer, brisk-walker, stretchy-skandasana-holding kind of a person. I do vinyasa yoga three times a week, walk 90 minutes a day, pretty sporty I feel.
Cycling a whole different saddle, bike-handling skills are… let’s say, like me, “vintage” 🤣🤣🤣
Doing this for The King's Trust, who's known to support young people bounce back from tough times with skills, confidence, and drive.
Practically 1 million young people (aged 16 to 24) in the UK are out of work, education, or training. That’s not just a stat — that’s a generation that needs a boost.
So my cycling is for purpose.
🚨 Current Status:
- Training: Mostly mental, but may go on a bike ride one of these days.
- Fundraising: 20% of my £150 goal raised (yay!).
- Bike: Still figuring out how to not fall off.
- Motivation: High. Fear: Also high.
This ride won’t be easy. There will be hills, and sore muscles. There may be tears (hopefully just from laughter). But with your support — whether it’s a donation, a cheer, or a playlist of motivational bangers — I know I can do this.
💸 Please help?
Donate, share, or just inspire me your message saying “You’ve got this!”
Every bit of encouragement bound to help me push through the miles and keep me going.
Help me achieve this real-world impact. 🚴♀️👑
