Me VS 10,000 steps

I’m taking on the Future Steps challenge this February for The King’s Trust – taking on 10,000 steps a day to help transform the lives of young people in the UK.
From the cost of living crisis to an unprecedented lack of opportunity, young people face a range of difficulties in today’s society. The King’s Trust supports young people who have faced disadvantage and adversity to develop the confidence and skills they need to move into work, education and training. A donation of just £10 could fund a call to The King's Trust helpline, enabling a vulnerable young person to gain the critical advice they need.
So, whether it’s indoors or outdoors, walking, running or rolling, it all goes toward supporting the cause. Every step, and every penny, really does count. Please help me to support The King’s Trust by donating to my page.

Day 1 - Great Start but... we need to talk about the app

Saturday 1st Feb
It seemed like a good idea, Fizz Friday, come Saturday dawn, I had a different view.

"Coming for a walk with me?", my beloved asked.

Grunt, was my curmudgeon reply.

Nevertheless, I dragged my weary backside out of the warmth and into a cold blast of North Manchester weather.

This is easy! I thought as I ventured over the M60, passing dogwalkers and the elderly weekly shopping brigade. It wasn't that long before I was breathing heavily [mental note: stick to 2 glasses].

As I meandered my way around my chosen route, avoiding the doggy surprises, I had to cut the walk short and detour back home for parental duties. Still not bad I thought. 3990 steps.

Now this is where we need to talk about the app... it had me as walking 5800, that couldn't be right I thought! So when time permitted, a second walk using the app tracker ensued.

Interestingly, I have now walked a further 5km in a faster time than any when I used to run for fun and yet a further 10,000 steps in 25 minutes. Apple health has me walking 7060 steps in total today. If only the app could track my billable hours...

So, while I'd love to shoot up that leader board with AI at it's finest I shall be blogging daily with my 'actual' step count - you lucky readers!

Oh, and before I go - let's see if this daily challenge will result in any lost weight. Every Sunday throughout the challenge I shall publish my weight.

I wonder if the app could track that.
