I'm walking miles on Sunday 4 October to change young lives!

At a time where almost a million young people in the UK are out of work, The King’s Trust are committed to ending youth unemployment, and I’m doing my part by taking on Palace to Palace! I’ve challenged myself to walk a half marathon across London and raise funds to help young people get into work.

The King's Trust (formerly known as The Prince’s Trust) is a youth charity providing long-term support and tailored programmes that empower young people across the UK to transform their lives. Every penny raised will help break down barriers, open doors and support young people to build the confidence and skills they need to find work.

Please help me support The King's Trust by sponsoring my Palace to Palace challenge and sharing my page to double the impact. A donation of £26 could cover the cost of travel for an isolated young person to attend a one-week King’s Trust course, helping them build vital skills and gain valuable work experience.

Why this year feels a little different

Saturday 29th Aug
Fundraising at this time of year has become something of a tradition for me.

For the last few years I’ve raised money for Prostate Cancer UK, and before that Cancer Research UK. It started after losing my dad far too young, at just 62. Ever since, doing something each year to raise money for a worthwhile cause has felt like a small but important way of remembering him — while hopefully helping somebody else along the way.

This year, though, it feels particularly significant.

At the beginning of the year I became seriously unwell. Thankfully, I’m now in a much better place, but experiences like that have a habit of sharpening your perspective. Things you might otherwise take for granted — your health, your family, your future and simply being able to get out there and do things — suddenly feel rather more precious.

So this year I’m swapping my usual fundraising cause, but not the reason for doing it.

I’ll be taking on the King’s Trust Palace to Palace walk, raising money to help young people who may not have had the easiest start or the opportunities many of us have been fortunate enough to have.

I love the idea that the money raised can help someone gain confidence, develop skills, get into work or simply see a future for themselves that perhaps didn’t seem possible before. Sometimes one opportunity, arriving at the right moment, can change the direction of a life.

After the year I’ve had, being healthy enough to take part feels like something worth celebrating in itself. Although I reserve the right to question that sentiment somewhere around the point when my legs start complaining.

Most importantly, I’d love to raise as much as I can for The King’s Trust.

If you’re able to sponsor me, however much, I’d be incredibly grateful. And if you can share the page too, that would mean just as much.

Here’s to making the most of the opportunities we have — and helping create a few more for those who need them.

Thank you to my Sponsors
