50 Miles. 50 Years. One Mission: Changing Young Lives 🚴♂️❤️
Friday 4th Sep
On Sunday 4 October 2026, I’ll be taking on a challenge that means much more to me than simply riding a bike.
I’ll be cycling 50 miles from The Mall, in front of Buckingham Palace, to Battersea Park as part of Palace to Palace, celebrating 50 years of The King’s Trust.
Fifty miles.
Fifty years.
And one very important reason:
To help change young lives.
Why am I doing this?
I’ve always enjoyed cycling. There’s something incredibly rewarding about getting on a bike, leaving the everyday world behind and simply following the road ahead.
But this time, the road has a bigger purpose.
I chose Palace to Palace because I wanted to turn something I enjoy into an opportunity to give something back.
The King’s Trust has spent 50 years helping young people overcome barriers, build confidence and develop the skills they need to move towards a better future. Its work is particularly important for young people facing disadvantage and adversity.
And that is something I believe is worth getting on my bike for.
50 miles isn't going to be easy...
I'm not going to pretend that 50 miles will be effortless.
There will be hills.
There will be tired legs.
There will probably be moments when I question my life choices! 😂
And there will almost certainly be a point where the finish line feels much further away than it actually is.
But whenever that happens, I'll remind myself that this challenge isn't really about me.
It's about the young people who need someone to believe in them.
It's about opportunity.
It's about confidence.
It's about helping someone who might be struggling today take their first step towards a better tomorrow.
That thought will keep me pedalling.
Every mile has a meaning
The amazing thing about fundraising is that one person's small contribution can become part of something much bigger.
I've set myself a £150 fundraising target.
£150 might not sound like a huge amount, but when people come together, small acts of kindness can create meaningful change.
The King’s Trust says that its support helps young people develop the confidence and skills to live, learn and earn. Its Palace to Palace event has raised more than £7 million over the years to support young people facing adversity.
So when I look at the 50 miles ahead of me, I won't just see distance.
I'll see 50 opportunities to keep going.
One mile at a time.
One pedal stroke at a time.
The journey has already started
The event might be on 4 October, but the challenge started the moment I decided to take part.
Training.
Getting the bike ready.
Building up the miles.
Finding the time.
Pushing myself when I don't feel like riding.
And preparing mentally for what could be a long and challenging day.
The official Palace to Palace route takes riders through some of London's most iconic landmarks before heading through Richmond Park and Surrey and eventually returning to Battersea Park for the finish festival.
I can't wait to experience it.
A personal challenge with a bigger purpose
I've taken on cycling challenges before, but this one feels different.
Because at the end of those 50 miles, I won't just have a medal around my neck.
I'll have the knowledge that I did something to support a cause that matters.
Maybe my £150 will help someone access an opportunity.
Maybe it will help a young person build confidence.
Maybe it will help someone who has been told "no" too many times finally hear a "yes."
I may never know exactly where my fundraising makes a difference.
And that's okay.
Because sometimes, making a difference isn't about seeing the result yourself.
It's simply about choosing to help.
So... bring on 4 October! 🚴♂️
On the morning of 4 October, I'll stand on The Mall, look towards Buckingham Palace, clip into my pedals and get ready for the challenge.
50 miles.
50 years of The King’s Trust.
£150 fundraising target.
One mission — to help change young lives.
I'm excited.
I'm nervous.
I'm probably going to hurt!
But most importantly, I'm ready to give it everything I've got.
If you'd like to be part of my journey, I'd be incredibly grateful for your support.
Whether it's £5, £10, £20 or simply sharing my fundraising page, every bit of support takes me one step — or one pedal stroke — closer to my target.
Because this isn't just my 50-mile challenge.
It's a chance for all of us to play a small part in helping create a better future for young people.
50 miles for 50 years.
Let's make every mile count. ❤️
