I'm cycling miles to change young lives from Buckingham Palace to Windsor Castle

On Sunday 5 October, I will be taking part in Palace to Palace and cycling 45 miles from Buckingham Palace to Windsor Castle and raising funds for the King’s Trust.

The King's Trust has tailored programmes and provides long-term support to give young people the practical skills and emotional resilience to pick themselves back up and create their own positive futures.

Following a cost of living crisis and pandemic which impacted their education, early careers and wellbeing, there are now almost 1 million young people not currently in work, education or training.

As Cunard's title charity partner, please help me to support The King's Trust by sponsoring my Palace to Palace cycle ride and sharing my page. Anything that you are able to offer is much appreciated & will go a long way to assist in everything that King's Trust offers :-)

My Updates

Sunday was THE DAY

Wednesday 8th Oct
Apologies for the delay in getting this out there, but Sunday was THE DAY. What an incredibly windy & very tiring day yesterday supporting Team Cunard & The King's Trust with just under 50 miles covered on our Palace to Palace cycle! 🚴‍♂️

A massive thanks to Nicola Berry & Honnor Calmet for getting me through the brutal winds which killed me both physically & spiritually - I couldn’t have done it without you 🫶

Also thank you to my family who cheered me over the finish line & had me shed a little tear with their welcome 🥰

A huge thank you for all those who have supported me throughout this venture 👍

10 Days to Go...

Thursday 25th Sep
The race pack has arrived & with it being nearly single figures of days to go, I'm certainly now feeling worried! Bicycle

New Forest Cycle - 23.09.25

Thursday 25th Sep
25 mile cycle from home to work, both as a good practice with the hills of the New Forest & also to get the bike to work ready for next weekend Confused
It's rather exciting & worrying in equal measures!

Unsuccessful beach cycle - 16.09.25

Thursday 25th Sep
I had the great idea to cycle all along the Bournemouth Promenade in order to cover a good distance & also to have a bit of a fight against the winds Grinning face with smiling eyes
Unfortunately however the prom was very well covered with sand, which meant cycling was impossible at times & it leading to an unsuccessful cycle
Sad

Queen Anne Gym - 26.08.25

Monday 1st Sep
I know that it's tougher out on the road with constant undulations etc, but as it was 4:30am this morning I still think that my 37.5 mile cycle in a little under 2.5 hours was pretty good going! Bicycle

Thanks for the continued support everyone - next aim is full distance when back on board Queen Mary 2 in a few weeks time!

Back on Queen Anne - 21.08.25

Monday 1st Sep
I've been back on board Queen Anne, making use of the on board gym while on my family holiday...
Up to 30 miles this time over a two-hour cycle session - definitely forgot the padded cycling shorts in my packing though Facepalm

Got out again

Friday 15th Aug
12 miles this morning on a hilly route in the local area for pretty much exactly an hour (including falling off & grazing my leg/hand 🙄) Does that make me a proper cyclist now?! 🤷

All the gear...

Friday 15th Aug
& no idea! 😮

Thank you!

Friday 15th Aug
Thanks to your donations topping over £300 (currently just over double that & joint 5th in the country for amount raised! 😮) the team at Palace to Palace have sent me through a special cycling top!

Quick lunch break cycle - 08.08.25

Friday 8th Aug
Whizzed out during a lunch break today to have a quick local cycle, covering approximately 7.5 miles. Survived to tell the tale, but clearly I need to get out more & build up the distance as this is only 1/6th distance required Worried

First time on the bike! 05.08.25

Friday 8th Aug
My 6 year old daughter, Chloe, said that she wanted to go out on a cycle ride today, so she is the motivation required to get me out on the bike for the first time!
A more gentle pace, but we covered 5 miles, which I was impressed with (for her rather than me) & reminded me how she's much bigger/older than I give her credit for...She's still just my baby right?!
Cheeky

2025 Route - Just the 48.5 miles actually!

Monday 28th Jul
So it turns out that the 45 miles is actually a 48.5 miles route... I know that it might not seem a huge difference now, but I feel as though that extra 8% is going to be a real killer on the day!

I have a bike!

Saturday 26th Jul
Rather integral to a 45 mile cycle, I appreciate, but thanks to Ben, I now have a bike fit for my Palace to Palace ride!
Even more reason to now aim to do it all justice 🤞

Second practice - 08.07.25

Monday 14th Jul
Upped the ante this morning, with a 1/2 distance of Palace to Palace - 22.5 miles in 1.5 hours...Felt OK at the end of it, other than a very painful bottom - upon return home I very quickly invested in some padded cycling shorts!

Luckily nobody took photos of the painful walk afterwards! Grinning face with smiling eyes

First practice - 05.07.25

Monday 14th Jul
Training has started in earnest on board Queen Anne, within the safe confines of the on board gym...
With only a few early birds for company, I completed 1/3 of the distance of Palace to Palace, with a 1 hour cycle session (started out on the flat to start gently)
Felt great & more to come this week!
