I'm cycling 45 miles from Buckingham Palace to Windsor Castle on a 'Boris Bike'' as part of the 2025 Palace to Palace ride in support of the King's Trust

On Sunday 5 October, I will be taking part in Palace to Palace and cycling 45 miles from Buckingham Palace to Windsor Castle raising funds for the King’s Trust.

To make it more of a challenge I'm going to do the ride on a London Hire Scheme pedal bike - aka a 'Boris Bike' ! (a pedal bike, not an e-Bike !)

Please help me to support The King's Trust by sponsoring me and sharing my page.

The King's Trust has tailored programmes and provides long-term support give young people the practical skills and emotional resilience to pick themselves back up and create their own positive futures. Just a £20 donation could provide one young person with an inspiring two hours of work experience in a stable job in a thriving sector.

I did it - Thanks for your support

Tuesday 7th Oct
Well, I did it! I rode the 47 miles from Buckingham Palace to Windsor (racecourse) on 'Boris Bike' 55562, and I'm pretty sure I was the only nutter who chose that type of bike (although there were a few on Bromptons as well, which I thought was pretty adventurous)

I did the ride in 4h17m and according to the official rankings was 310th fastest out of the 1313 who took part in the 'Classic' ride. Not bad on a 23kg heavyweight bike, with only 3 gears!

To top an excellent day off, after a short rest listening to some live music and having lunch at the finish festival, I then rode a further 31 miles on 'Boris' to get back to London, which with the 3 miles to get to the start line in the morning meant I cycled over 80 miles - I'd like to challenge whether anyone has done that sort of mileage on those bikes before?

Anyway, thanks for everyone's support, sponsorship and for the positive comments I received along the way.  I hope it inspires others to stretch boundaries and see what you can achieve when you put your mind to it - and raise funds for a great charity on the way
