Me VS 10,000 steps

At a time when 900,000 young people in the UK are out of work – enough to form the UK’s third biggest city! The King’s Trust are committed to ending youth unemployment, and I’m doing my bit to support.

I am taking on the Future Steps challenge – completing 10,000 steps a day throughout February and raising vital funds to support young people across the UK.

A donation of just £12 could fund a call to The King's Trust helpline, enabling a young person facing adversity to gain the critical advice they need.

Every penny raised will help break down barriers, open doors and support young people to build the confidence and skills they need to find work. Please consider donating to my page.

Thank you.

My Updates

Early 6am walk around southampton

Wednesday 25th Feb
Pink sky, not too cold, a long walk to start the day before work. 2 more to go later on as I get closer to 1/2 a million steps.

The sun is back

Wednesday 25th Feb
Eventually yesterday turned out to be the perfect weather for walking or running. So no coat was required and a nice long walk completed with a cheeky stop off to try a new curry house :)

Sunday sinking feeling

Monday 23rd Feb
Well I was up at 6 and out the door to the new Forest and went for a longer walk. Unfortunately some areas were too muddy I thought I’d found a normal route (new one) and then I suddenly got that sinking feeling when I was surprised by sinking mud! Back to the car after totalling up around 5.5 miles

More rain just for a change

Saturday 21st Feb
I did 3 walks yesterday, the rain was back again, but I took it easy as my back was starting to ache a little ! Saw a friendly squirrel in the main Southampton park who was expecting food.

No rain today !

Thursday 19th Feb
3 shortish walks today with no rain for a change most enjoyable!

Day 18 need a bigger boat

Wednesday 18th Feb
Well should have been pool lengths not steps today , has to have been the worst rain so far completely soaked through tonight! Early morning and lunchtime wasn’t too bad in comparison. Just the one swan actually and he’d had enough too. Big thank you to Rachel for sponsoring me to complete my target today :)

Day 17 quite easy

Wednesday 18th Feb
Easy as in the weather ! late evening walk and a run at lunchtime even though it was quite cold

Day 16

Monday 16th Feb
Early morning walk around Southampton City Centre same again lunchtime plus Eling Tide mill after work by which time there was some blue sky and sun to finish off the day

Day 15 was wet

Monday 16th Feb
Early morning walk with an umbrella to Bucklers Hard rain wasn’t as heavy early morning as Sunday afternoon so was nice and peaceful one other person running no one else around just the birds and the rain

Day 13

Saturday 14th Feb
Just 2 walks today one early morning and one in the evening managed to avoid the rain!

Day 12 sunset

Thursday 12th Feb
Just the sun for a change

Day 12 - 3 walks

Thursday 12th Feb
Did 3 walks today managed to stay dry this evening was quite stunning I was privileged to see Robins, a kingfisher and a wren unfortunately very hard to get a decent photo

Just another day of rain and walking

Tuesday 10th Feb
Out for a run first thing then a lunchtime walk followed by a shorter evening walk and plenty of rain to be had! Bonus spot was a Woodpecker down at Ealing

Very muddy walk

Saturday 7th Feb
Day 7 was a long coastal walk starting off through the woods and along the river down the coast to Lee On The Solent - mud was very challenging and I almost went in 3 times ! Good to make my target destination around 7-8 miles

Early doors and walk in the new forest

Sunday 1st Feb
Woke up at 530am so was up and out the door to walk down the old railway line in the pitch black but had a head lamp hat on plus a brolly. Later on did a second walk on the coast to make up enough steps!
