I'm walking miles to change young lives

On Sunday 5th October, I will be taking part in The Palace Walk. I will be walking 13.1 miles around Windsor to help young people create a better future for themselves.

The King's Trust has tailored programmes and provides long-term support give young people the practical skills and emotional resilience to pick themselves back up and create their own positive futures.

Following a cost of living crisis and pandemic which impacted their education, early careers and wellbeing, there are now almost 1 million young people not currently in work, education or training, equivalent to the third largest city in the UK. At The Trust we know the devastating impact of unemployment on young people’s mental health, broader wellbeing, and confidence in achieving their aspirations in life.

Please help me to support The King's Trust by sponsoring my Palace Walk and sharing my page. Just a £20 donation could provide a young person with an experienced youth worker for an hour, building their confidence, resilience and motivation during this time.

Training Walk: Wittenham Clumps to Dorchester Loop

Thursday 28th Aug

With the King’s Trust 13-mile charity walk getting closer, I decided it was time to step up my training. We had the rare luxury of a child-free day so we made the most of it by heading out early on 16th August before the heat of the day set in.

We started off at Wittenham Clumps – always such a beautiful spot to begin a walk, from there, we followed the paths down towards Shillingford, then looped across to Dorchester, before circling back towards the Clumps.

All in all, we clocked up just over 6 miles. It took us a little over two hours, but was thoroughly enjoyable – the scenery was fabulous, and walking through fields, riversides, and historic villages made it such a refreshing route.

By the time we got home, we were happily tired and more than ready for some well-deserved cocktails in the evening 🍸 – the perfect way to round off a training walk!

This was a great reminder that while the 13 miles ahead will be a challenge, it’s also going to be full of experiences like this – time outdoors, beautiful scenery, and that lovely sense of achievement at the end.
