Me VS 10,000 steps

I’m taking on the Future Steps challenge this February for The King’s Trust – taking on 10,000 steps a day to help transform the lives of young people in the UK.
From the cost of living crisis to an unprecedented lack of opportunity, young people face a range of difficulties in today’s society. The King’s Trust supports young people who have faced disadvantage and adversity to develop the confidence and skills they need to move into work, education and training. A donation of just £10 could fund a call to The King's Trust helpline, enabling a vulnerable young person to gain the critical advice they need.
So, whether it’s indoors or outdoors, walking, running or rolling, it all goes toward supporting the cause. Every step, and every penny, really does count. Please help me to support The King’s Trust by donating to my page.

Future Steps - My Reason Why

Monday 27th Jan

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been committed to helping others achieve their fullest potential. Whether it was advocating for my peers as a student, working in a variety of schools, or now supporting talent development at Ricoh, my focus has always been on enabling people to discover that unique spark within themselves. This is why I’m excited to take part in the King’s Trust 'Future Steps' walking challenge.

Throughout my career, I’ve seen firsthand the power of mentorship, guidance, and support in helping individuals thrive. The King’s Trust embodies that vision: they believe every young person deserves the opportunity to succeed, no matter the challenges they face. I’m thrilled to be able to fundraise for an organisation that works tirelessly to help young people build a brighter future for themselves.

The funds raised from this challenge can transform lives. Knowing that the money I raise will help fund initiatives that empower young people—whether through education, mentorship programs, or career development—makes every step I take that much more important.

The 'Future Steps' walking challenge also offers something for me beyond just fundraising—it’s also a chance to take a break from the screen and get outside. With so much of my day spent at a computer, it can be easy to lose track of my health and fitness goals. This challenge offers the perfect opportunity to step away from my desk, get outside during daylight hours, and work on a healthier version of myself.

I hope to see myself exceed the 10,000 steps target—and I’m not doing it alone. I’ll be bringing my son, my husband, and our aptly breed-named King Charles Cavalier Spaniel, Percy, along for the journey. It’ll be a family affair, and I’m excited to get everyone involved. Whether it’s a brisk walk in the park or a longer hike on the weekends, I’m looking forward to sharing the experience with my loved ones and spending quality time together outside, away from screens and busy schedules.

The King’s Trust is doing incredible work, and I’m proud to be part of a community that believes in empowering the next generation to become the best version of themselves. I’m ready to take those steps, knowing that each one brings us closer to a brighter future for all.
