Me VS 10,000 steps

I’m taking on the Future Steps challenge this February for The King’s Trust – taking on 10,000 steps a day to help transform the lives of young people in the UK.
From the cost of living crisis to an unprecedented lack of opportunity, young people face a range of difficulties in today’s society. The King’s Trust supports young people who have faced disadvantage and adversity to develop the confidence and skills they need to move into work, education and training. A donation of just £10 could fund a call to The King's Trust helpline, enabling a vulnerable young person to gain the critical advice they need.
So, whether it’s indoors or outdoors, walking, running or rolling, it all goes toward supporting the cause. Every step, and every penny, really does count. Please help me to support The King’s Trust by donating to my page.

I am going start my steps journey from .....Watches of Switzerland 🇨🇭  with a nice walk around the castle and a visit to the Millenium Stadium, after that I can't be sure but will most likely involve getting off the train somewhere on the way back , so good luck to all of you today . Step well , get your last fundraising efforts in and above all enjoy yourselves😎 .

Day 27

Monday 10th Mar

February 27th 393,000 steps and counting !

Monday 10th Mar
Good morning ! Its another beautiful day in Wales blue skies and sunshine  , I'm on the train on my way to work .
There are only 2 days left of the steps challenge and it's hard to believe when The Walkers of Stepzerland  started on day 1  where it would end up taking us , and  myself personally have seen parts of Wales that I've always wanted to see and  would like to go , but never got round to for some reason or another .It's been a bit of an eye-opener to see the beauty that is Wales hiding in plain sight 😎

Day 26

February 26th

Sunday 9th Mar
What a day , myself and Has had the same day off so 1/3 of the Walkers of Stepzerland set off  from Castle Square in Swansea all the way step by step to Mumbles Pier, after a wll deserved ice cream it was back to Swansea . I then continued on by train getting off at Pembury and Buryport  and stepping in and around the harbour area for about an hour then back on the train to Carmarthen , something to eat and once more to Rose and Crown to watch Liverpool have a comfortable win against Newcastle , and then home 🏡

Day 25

Friday 7th Mar

On my way to Aberystwyth on the T1

Friday 7th Mar

February 25th

Friday 7th Mar
Today I took a trip out to Aberystwyth on the T1 bus .I was hoping to go to Devil's Gorge on the Vale of Rheidol  steam train , sadly it doesn't run until April 5th  so some lunch at Weatherspoons , then down to the beach and onwards to walk up  Constiution Hill  returning to  take a quick look at the Castle taking in the pier on the way back past The Angel , down Great dark gate street and back on the bus . Once home I had a bite to eat ,then back in to town to the Rose and Crown  , watching Chelsea take apart Southampton  4-0 and then a slightly longer route home 🏡

Day 23

Friday 7th Mar

Day 24

February 24th fundraising update

Thursday 6th Mar
A journey I take every working day , surprising how beautiful it is  😎
My fundraising is going extremely well  doubling the original challenge of £100  , yesterday it stood at £205  today it is now at £240 !  and the Walkers of Stepzerland  collectively  have gone over the challenge of raising £600  with still 5 days left if you include today , Well done and a huge thankyou to all our contributors and supporters ! 🥳

Swansea Castle

Thursday 6th Mar

February 23rd

Thursday 6th Mar
Today is a working day at  Goldsmiths  in Swansea so the steps relatively take care of themselves. I have bought doughnuts for my fellow steppers  Isabella and Dylan.
. That's me done for today , as I  was walking towards the station home I took a photo of Swansea Castle , then  popped into the Grand Hotel to watch the 2nd half of Man City v Liverpool  and although after going home I went back into town  to the Rose and Crown  for the proverbial Guiness there is no photo this time , as I have a policy of only one  Guiness photo per post 😂

Day 22

Wednesday 5th Mar

River Tywi on the way to Carmarthen Station

Wednesday 5th Mar

22nd February

Wednesday 5th Mar
Took a trip to Havefordwest today , a visit to the Castle , then down to  Bridge Street for a look round  the Welsh Spitfire Museum , onto
Ocky Whites travel  to see  Lindsey , the first to respond to my steps challenge  supporting me all the way, then dinner at Waldo's  lounge  , onto Specsavers  hoping to see another friend Sarah , sadly not there , enjoying a weekend off , so it was back on  the train home  where I watched a valiant effort by Wales come very close to taking down Ireland 😢 finally a trip to The Rose and Crown to round off a lovely day with a couple of pints of Guiness . Probably should be sponsored by them  🤣

Day 21

Wednesday 5th Mar

21st February

Wednesday 5th Mar
Just ticking over today. After such a momentous day yesterday  I feel justified in taking it a bit easier .
Now the challenge has been completed  a new goal is required and as it takes 1.8 million steps to walk to Switzerland from Swansea  , as part of the Walkers of Switzerland team  300,000  Steps each  will get us there 😀

Pendine sands museum of speed

Tuesday 4th Mar

Day 20

Tuesday 4th Mar

20th February A record breaking day !

Tuesday 4th Mar
As I only had 21,000 steps left to do , then where better than Pendine sands  with a trip round the  museum of speed , then a step back to the 12th century  to take a look at the Castle in Laugharne,  step forward a few centuries to Dylan Thomas's boat house and writing shed , pay your respects to  the great poet with a visit to his grave , toast the bard with  a pint at the Brown's Hotel   then home , big thanks to Steve the bus driver  and also to Mr Thomas  who happened to be passing through .  Out and down to the Rose and Crown just to make sure I went over the 280,00 steps  and then bedtime 🌙 😴

Day 19

Tuesday 4th Mar

19th February

Tuesday 4th Mar
With a day of work in  store  the steps will generally look after themselves.  A 20 minute walk to  the train  , 10 minutes to  the Goldsmith's  Showroom . Steps accumulated during working then  back home again  .No pint tonight as the weather is absolutely atrocious!

Day 18

Tuesday 4th Mar
Had a  lovely day at Kidwelly  finishing off with a walk into town to the football . Heartbreak for Celtic who played so well 😪 Back home now contemplating bedtime 🌙 😴

Day 14

Tuesday 4th Mar

14th February

Tuesday 4th Mar
Train delays meant I didn't get home till 9.10pm  so my fish and chip was weighing heavy but a gentle 30 minute walk  has sorted that out .so that's me done for day 14

Day 13

Tuesday 4th Mar

13th February

Tuesday 4th Mar

12th February

Tuesday 4th Mar
Today the plan was  to take a bus to Llansteffan, go to the beach , visit the castle  and then walk back .  Turned out it was quite a dangerous road on reflection but I made  it safely back  even went to the pub later that night  finishing with over 25,000 steps

11th February

Monday 3rd Mar
I feel my stamina has now been built up enough to take on a big one tomorrow

Building slowly

10th February

Monday 3rd Mar
My best so far , thanks to a valiant effort from Doncaster Rovers in defeat to Crystal Palace  in the FA   Cup and a new improved longer route home from the pub 🤓

8th February 2025

Sunday 16th Feb
Saturday  steps helped by a day of work and a trip to the pub to watch fa Cup
match gave my  best steps  daily total  so far .
Yesterday was a bit harder going as I was at home and apart from a trip to the local Co op due to lots of sport on the Telly left me with a lot to do and a 6k walk at 9pm is not ideal 😅  I now have broken the 100,000 steps  barrier !  Weather  looks good for walking  , slightly chilly  and dry

100,103 steps completed ! Only 180,000 to go
